 PSM Instrumentation Ltd has been a manufacturer of
marine tank liquid level measurement and tank gauging systems
for ship board applications for over 30 years. Specialising in the Marine industry, PSM offers an extensive range
of tank gauging and monitoring systems and electronic level & pressure transmitters for shipboard duty.
Instruments carry international type approvals for use in ballast, fuel, draught
and all service tanks. In addition, many carry NATO stock numbers and are shock
tested to fulfil the requirements of military surface ships and submarines.PSM uses digital technology in its latest data acquisition monitoring control and display instruments, providing accurate and cost effective gauging & monitoring solutions to suit vessels of all sizes and class. Typically, these new systems have been equally fitted to trawlers and navy frigates emphasising suitability for a wide range of vessels. The flexibility of the 2200 series and digital systems also provide shipyards the opportunity for substantial installation cost savings compared with traditional equipment. Central computer displays are available with PSM "Tankview", an advanced software package running under the Windows environment for operator familiarity and ease of use. Link protocols enable interface with other shipboard systems and loading computers. |

| The Marine Level Transmitter 'Tankstar' series is designed to
meet the latest IEC and marine standards. It's rugged
construction and design flexibility provide reliable
monitoring / marine tank gauging of liquid and pressure measurement in harsh environments.
Typically ship's tanks and draught applications where
conditions of high overload, shock and corrosion are
common. The maintenance free design containing no active electronic components ensures reliable and trouble free operation - critical in shipboard applications. The 'Tankstar' has the sensitivity needed to accurately measure shallow tanks but sustains a 50 times overload without damage. |

Advanced signal processing provides an increased operational span and sensitivity compared with conventional capacitive devices, reducing the number of nominal ranges to 4 to cover all tank depths up to 50 meters WG, all with the same high performance levels. The iCT transmitter body is manufactured from high integrity 316 stainless steel and employs a carefully engineered seal assembly in a choice of materials, which draws upon PSM many years of application experience to provide a fully submersible (IP68) construction capable of withstanding the toughest operating conditions. |

Tank gauging radar level transmitter The VG7 High frequency (26 GHz) Radar operates on the same proven principle of the earlier lower frequency 10 GHz FMCW Radars. Enhanced accuracy Vs Pulse Radar The difference in dynamic range between the best pulsed systems and the VG7 is more than 30 dB. This is equivalent in signal power to a sensitivity that is 1000 times greater. The larger dynamic range of the VG7 allows more stable detection of liquids with very low dielectric and thus very weak reflections. Between an dielectric of 2 and a dielectric of 1.2, in an otherwise identical measurement environment, the difference in level is approximately 11.5 dB, which is equivalent to 14 times the power difference on a linear scale. |

This rugged design of switch is used throughout the process industries. It is available with a wide range of flanged or screwed process connections and can have extensions, enabling the probe to reach 3 metres into a tank if required. The wetted parts of standard switches are 316 stainless steel but special Halar coated and Hastelloy switches are used for extremely corrosive applications and hygienic probes are available for the food industry. |

The Ultrameter family represents a real advance in the use of ultrasound for non-contact level measurement. It is suitable for both liquids and solids measurement. A highly developed and ultra efficient range of sensors emit a significantly higher power acoustic wave than earlier generation devices, providing enhanced accuracy and resolution and the ability to automatically compensate for and operate reliably in acoustically “noisy” or absorbent atmospheres. The Ultrameter I is probably the simplest level transmitter on the market to calibrate and use. 'Type Approved' Bilge Alarm / Water Level Switches A compact but rugged bilge water alarm switch for Marine use on vessels of all sizes. The integral manual checking device conforms to class rules without complicating installation. Siting and mounting is simple requiring only a two bolt fixing and the self draining fully shrouded design prevents interference of operation from obstructions or floating debris. Due to the extremely harsh environments that this switch is likely to encounter, extensive successful testing was carried out exceeding the environmental testing requirements for Marine Type Approval laid out in IACS Unified requirement E10 and the relevant sections of IEC945 for all Marine Type Approvals. |

Tankview is a simple to operate graphic display software package running within the Windows environment. It provides the user with a clear picture of the current status of all inputs for a complete tank gauging solution for monitoring, control and piece of mind. Tankview distributed data acquisition and monitoring system can stand-alone or communicate with most ships management computer systems. Being Windows based Tankview will also communicate with other Window's applications such as spreadsheets to enable detailed usage tracking and analysis, as well as stock control. |
